For those wanting bleeding edge there is "Project Neon" (
https://launchpad.net/~project-neon/+archive ) which builds Ubuntu packages
(which I've found also work on Debian) every night out of KDE and Amarok SVN.
Whilst nightly builds should be handled with care, I've found they're pretty
stable at the moment since KDE's in a bug-fixing stage (expect it to break
badly as soon as the 4.2 release is over though :P )

You can change this already with Settings>Edit Current Profile if you prefer
it a certain way :)

GNU/Linux, *BSD, Solaris and partially on OSX and Windows too. Really is a
very impressive achievement.
