Have a check first on crucial.com/uk to see how much you'll pay if you buy
the upgrade yourself. I got my 2GB RAM for Asus Eee 701 at a reasonable
price. Of course there is the issue of being a little tech savvy to install
your own RAM.

I've been using Asus 701 4GB SSD for more than a year now, and I love it. 4G
means you'll store most of your documents either on the network/cloud or the
SD card. I believe for £70 nowadays you can get 32GB SDHC?
And when I tried Crunchbang for Eee, it's really slick, but somewhat bloated
for me. I've just recently put on Mandriva 2009.1, ended up with more than 1
GB to spare after OpenOffice, printing stuff and compilers.
I don't regret buying a netbook, the price per kilo, is really worth it :)
