Reminds me of the time I made it into Fosdem some years ago where we 
had reached the point where there was some sort of infrastructure 
within the international open source community (at last!) and we sat 
down and started to discuss the future.  What could be possible.

Google had started to emerge as a worthwhile search engine which could 
do a lot for tech support for home and commercial Linux users.  
Someone said "What would you like to see in future".  To which I 
replied that I would like to see an online Encyclopaedia.  Strangely, 
as does happen at Fosdem, someone else took me seriously and the end 
result is Wikipedia.

I suppose that we can look forward to some interesting new ideas but 
can't help thinking that Google Wave is a fashion that will come and 
go like many others did before it becomes something that is useful for 
all of us.  Of course, it's an open source online development 
environment and so I expect to see many different versions of Google 
Wave out their for all sorts of purposes.
