[Sheflug] Netbook Storage Options

I've been looking at netbooks for a while, and I'm quite taken with the new Dell Mini 10v: £199 for the base package, with Ubuntu.
However there are a couple of options. The base package comes with an
8 Gbyte SSD storage device. For an additional £40 I could either: a)
expand that to 16 Gbyte, or b) have a hard drive instead (at least 120
Gbyte). What would you all do? I had thought that SSDs were always
faster than hard drives but I recently read a review of SSDs in Micro
Mart which found (admittedly in the context of Windows) that there was
a great variation in performance. The trouble with ordering an SSD is
that you don't know anything about the performance specs, whereas the
hard drive will be much more of known quantity (It would be a 5400 rpm
drive).
Suggestions?
