I'm sure that most of this is the international economic situation but
you can't help wondering whether the Linux desktop is having some
effect on this. That and the fact that Linux is a much used choice for
server software.
Without wanting to be overly negative, the only reason that "Business
posts $3billion quarterly profits during global financial crisis" is
somehow bad news is because it's Microsoft; it shows even their ability
to print money is limited. That, and they're deferring sales so that as
soon as Windows 7 releases they're immediately posting big numbers again.
It is still a good set of results in these times where many businesses
are posting losses, and as much as I would like to think that Linux is
somehow eating into their bottom line, these results don't really show
that :(
