[Sheflug] Virtualisation and using debian packages with ubuntu

Afternoon all,

I want to change from dual boot to running XP in a VM. What are your
views on the various free systems out there, KVM, virtualbox, Xen etc.

Secondly is there an easy way to get packages from Debian and
recompile them for Ubuntu? I want to use the e17 packages which are
now in unstable but I'm presuming it has a different tool chain.
