[Sheflug] Can anyone recommend a USB sound device?

I've just spent a while failing to get Maplin's "5.1 USB Multimedia
Sound Card" to work with my Ubuntu laptop (they were nice and took it
back, since I'd been careful with the packaging).

Can anyone recommend a device with a line-in jack and a USB connection
that does work with Linux?  (I just want to connect the line-out from my
hi-fi to record with audacity; the laptop has a microphone jack but no
line-in.)
