[Sheflug] Intro and Meetings

Hi folks
Sorry if this sounds like a Linux Anonymous type introduction!
I'm a C++ developer of over 10 years and a Linux user for about the
same. Started with Slackware (on 30+ 1.44MB floppies... remember those?)
now an ardent Debian / Ubuntu user.

So why am I introducing myself? Well I have a little free time and would
like to get involved in Linux coding some more (there's only so much
Visual Studio a person can take!).

So first question... is the Sheffield LUG open to 'newbies' or just
people who are already involved with Linux related projects?
Second question... what sort of projects is the LUG involved with and
are there any particular distros that the LUG prefers/uses?
Third question... I can't make this saturday as I'm in Birmingham on a
conference, at the next meeting am I welcome to pop in and introduce
myself and (hopefully) get involved?

Thanks for your time and hope this post hasn't put you all to sleep!!
Cheers
Dave
