Strangely I installed the live version of the New York subway and
buses info into my Android phone in preparation. I know Manhattan and
other parts of New York quite well. Used to live there. For a few
months. If you get stuck and need some help you can send me SMS or e-
mail. The youth hostel which isn't too bad is up on 120th street.
Grocery store across the road and a god pub and cafe just round the
corner. You can get a five day Metro ticket for not to much. Go
anywhere with one of those.

Statue of Liberty on Ellis Island is well worth a trip. Good day
out.
