Yes $HOME is set to /root no matter who logs in which is confusing.
I tried export PATH='/opt/bin:$PATH' but with no luck.
Some poking around on google suggested setting ENV = '~/.ashrc' but I
couldn't workout where to put that.
After a bit more mucking around I tried a magic reboot and it hasn't
come back up properly, in that it's up but will no longer let me
in. I'm pretty sure I know why though.
The box is a 15 min drive away so I'll have another go when it's
stopped raining.
