[Sheflug] Android
Hi
Those of us who went to the meeting on Saturday saw the 10" Android
tablet. Linux on a tablet. Nice picture of a penguin when the machine
boots. Cost of such a machine ? About £90. Compared with Apples
hundreds of $$$$$. With this in mind I read this...
http://www.linuxinsider.com/rsstory/71213.html
" Google's (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android operating system grabbed a strong
25.5 percent of the worldwide smartphone market, making it the No. 2
OS globally in the third quarter of 2010, according to a study
released by Gartner (NYSE: IT) on Wednesday. That's up from a mere 3.5
percent share of the market in the third quarter of 2009. "
So, if you are someone who likes to make a claim that the GNU/Linux
desktop or phone is or are not popular perhaps you could read some
more before you say it :) My own Android phone is absolutely
cracking. I can do just about anything with it.
Hopefully we'll see you at the next meeting on the 4th of December.
