Of course I know where Maplin is. :-) But I'll see what PSUs are in
the old boxes under my desk first (I suspect one box might not have one,
and I can't remember the wattages).
The PSU hadn't occurred to me, because previous PSU problems for me have
been all-or-nothing, but on reflection it seems quite possible that it's
putting out enough power, or to enough of the rails, to light the main
lights and the DVD drive lights, but not enough to really get the
machine going.
I'll report back later (if I have a suitable spare PSU) or over the
weekend (otherwise).
