[Sheflug] Windows: Insecure by design
Hi
https://www.theregister.com/2024/06/28/windows_insecure_by_design/
I've been looking at this stuff since the 1990s. My original 486 was
destroyed by a winduhs virus that was rampant on the University of
Sheffield internal network. We've come a long way since then but
Microsoft still insist that winduhs has improved a lot when in fact it's
still the same pile of crud that it always was. As it says " But no.
It's only gotten worse – much worse. " Which is a fact.
When we started on GNU/Linux back in the 1990's it was a bit of a joke...

I was stood next to Dr Owen le Blanc when he was working on Manchester
Interim Linux. A group of us started ManLUG at that time -
www.manlug.org - Owen was in touch with Linux Torvalds by e-mail. The
fact that we thought we should start and help out with a new operating
system should tell you how bad the Microsoft product is. Also Dr John
Heaton and Dr Clarke and some others. None of us thought that GNU/Linux
would become popular. Present day it's a multi-million $$$ industry and
the desktop is used by millions of people.
