Re: [Sheflug] Help!!!!!

Thanks, Geoff,

I've managed to get back to the desktop by using kernel 6.whatevs instead of kernel 7.xxx

Whenever I try to upgrade to the latest kernel (7.0.0-28) the installer throws an error and seems to leave me with a corrupt kernel, so I have to repeat the process of reverting to kernel 6.xxx and deleting kernel 7.xxx.

Not an immediate issue for me, but at some point I'll need to update the kernel, I'm sure :-/

As you can tell, I'm also a "dabbler"! That said, loving Linux Mint on both my new-ish laptop and my (elderly) desktop machine. :-)

TTFN!

If you restart and get into the GRUB menu (probably pressing Escape or Shift), you should be able to select an older kernel to boot and then remove the updated kernel.

(I think)

I’m a dabbler not an expert so others may be along with better suggestions!

Cheers, Geoff

My laptop, running Linux Mint Cinnamon, just did a load of updates. When I rebooted it, I got:

                   KERNEL PANIC!
           Please reboot your computer
VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)

All subsequent reboots have same result.

Any hints/suggestions? (Other than wipe the drive and start again!!)

Thanks :-)
