The Compaq setup utility is not a real BIOS setup, more of a soft bios. There 
should be a jumper on the system board to default the CMOS. If you set then 
remove this jumper the mobo will redetect all devices.

I really don't recommend Compaq PCs to anyone who wants to mess with 
hardware. They are designed to do 1 thing - to run an MS O/S. Call it a 
WinPC, you won't be far wrong.  I'm a Compaq certified engineer & wouldn't 
touch one with someone else's bargepole...

The servers of course are a different matter.
