You'd think so, wouldn't you....
... but no.
If you're running Gnome (CD Player Applet 1.4.0.1), try it. It will only
look at /dev/cdrom. If it's a symlink, it won't work. If it's a device,
it does.
Strictly speaking, it (cdplayer_capplet) might be right. For example,
symlinks in /dev/ are a very bad idea if you're relying on locking them
to share a device. But devfsd only sets it up as a symlink, and
therefore this is annoying to me.
