Help needed

Dear Richard,

I obtained your e-mail address from the Linux Exhibition at the
Blackwell Bookstore in Sheffield last Saturday. I am a new Linux
user and have just started for about a week. I am not a programmer
or in any related field, but I need Linux so that my simulation
programme would run. I have bought the RedHat Linux 6.1 Deluxe
and I am having trouble trying to install the X Windows package. It
seems that everytime I start the X Windows, I would not be able to
log out. The computer would hang. By the way, my graphic card is
the Savage 4 Pro with the 86C397 S3 128 bit chipset. I would really
appreciate it if you can explain to me how I can tackle the problem.
