suse 6.3

after some months i've finnaly got linux on the net (thanks Santa !!!)

suse 6.3 installs pretty well apart from switching language to german
for the Yast2 setup for graphics cards. i've got sound, well, sort
of........ actually thats why I'm writting this.

I've been using OSS drivers for my ES1689 card. OSS auto detects this
card as an ES1688 and doesn't provide the correct DMA / IRQ / IO
configuration for my card. I manually configured the card as an ES1689
and ran 'soundon' ..... great , sound.......

it only works as root (can't use soundon comand as a normal user) and
doesn't play wave files. i've also got an anoying buzzing generated when
i move the mouse. This can be reduced to a bearable level when i turn
down the cd volume on the kde mixer desk?

of course I realise I may never recieve an answer to these questions in
time as the world is about to end................13hrs to
go.........................
