RE: PC World

In the same situation last year (I accidentally nuked the kid's pc) I bit
the bullet shelled out a whole ?20 inc VAT for a PSU packed in a nice new
case :). Rather cheaper than the bare PSU at ?40-odd most places were
quoting.

Heres a nice little anecdote for a chortle...

I went into PC World in Sheffield at 7:45pm (only shop open til' 8),
desperately in search of a replacement PSU after an unfortunate accident
(don't ask). Anyhow, I was 'reliably' informed by no less than 7 members of
staff, that PSU's were:

a) Not a standard PC component
b) Not included in ANY of PC World's PCs
c) Not for sale from anywhere but specialised electronics shops such as
RS

In the end, I had to fetch the blown PSU from the car so show them what one
looks like! Not one of them had ever seen one to their recollection.

Well, I don't know about you, but it seems that I have apparently got a
piece of 'specialised equipment' in every single PC I own!!! Kinda makes
you
proud, don't it!?

Hello

Just out of curiosity I wandered over to PC World in Sheffield today
only to find that they have several versions of Linux on the shelves.
The sales assistants were very helpful.

I thought that I might phone them up to talk to them about Linux.
Perhaps my letter to Dixons Marketing Director had some effect
somewhere ? When I got through to them I was talking to a completely
brainless woman who knew nothing about Linux at all. I spelt it out
for her and explained that because I had written to Dixons PC World
were selling the software on the shelf. She explained that she had
never heard of Linux and it didn't exist. She also explained that PC
World only sold MS Windows. I asked her would it be possible to have
a chat to the Manager. At that point she showed herself to be the
stroppy uneducated bitch that she is and more or less said that
people like me are not allowed to talk to Manager in the British
Isles.

Do I need to say any more ?

Thanks

Richard
