I had this problem with RH6.1 - screen resolution toggle (ctrl alt +/-)
didn't work, XF86Config wouldn't let me change the res colour depth.
In the end had to install XF86Setup, which isn't included in 6.1 but you
can find the rpm on the distro disk, that worked fist time.
