minicom does talk, but not in vt100 format (at least not as far as i can
tell) all the text appears on one line. seyon uses xterm as the emulator
but it's not a fully functioning version (or maybe i just haven't set it
correctly!) the graphics and text displays correctly but the function
keys don't operate. the system i use needs the function keys for
specific actions.
