You may need to use stty or some such to bind the keys correctly maybe?
You may also want to see what $TERM is set to, that might be giving some
grief as well? xterm is generally TERM=linux, you may want to TERM=vt100.

You may be getting the sense I have no idea. You would be right ;) Having
got my own genuine DEC vt520, I have no need for emulation ;)
