It sounds like the modules are already there from the default
installation. As you havn't changed kernel version, just done a
recompile, the modules will still work. Have a look in
/lib/modules/kernelversion/

where kernelversion is the version you are running. I wouldn't just
blindly delete stuff from there though. You could make your system
unusable.
