Learn LaTeX. Honest, it's worth it. You may find it horrible, but it's quite
easy to pick
up. And when you get to large or technical docs (e.g. I had to typeset a load
of Z last year)
there is nothing better.

And the latest gnumeric (ftp://ftp.net.lut.ac.uk/pub/gnome/) is quite capable
as a spreadsheet.
Haven't got gnome-print working too well ATM though...
