Re: Office suites...



for a small basic (stable) office suite you could try http://siag.nu/
it's only about 7Mb but is quite well integrated! the only draw back i
have found is that it is a little basic. it's not word or wordperfect.
but it does come in binary form and dead easy to use. if you come across
something a bit more advanced, i'd appreciate you letting me
know........

i'm running 64Mb on a pII 300 and 'SO' is dam slow ?!?!

Maybe someone can let us know if the java environment is required or
does it slow the thing down. it takes forever to start-up. it wouldn't
be so bad if it was possible to start parts of the suite with out the
fake desktop thing! i.e. word processor / spread sheet / etc......

lyx (i think that's what it's called?) is a WP and comes with suse 6.3
(look under the TEX section when installing packages with YAST) but it's
not easy to use (in my humble windows background opinion!) but does give
good results after hours of torture!!!!!!
