D'oh [at] new motherboard chip...

D'oh!
New motherboard, same old CMOS problem, it must be
something that I am not installing (it is a custom install). However, I
can now say that the Yast 2 installation does actually work with
the S3 ViRGE /DX /GX. A replacement of chip (AMD K6-2 450) and
a new motherboard to handle the chip seems to have solved the
problem. I don't know why, I suspect that it is because the boot o/s
from the cd was compiled for a real pentium, not cyrix. Standard
kernel (pentium optimised) won't work for the cyrix chip.
The machine is still slow though - I just need some ram...
