Oh, well, I suppose it's time to show the Open Source (-ish)
possibilities:
-Scilab <http://www-rocq-inria.fr/scilab>
-Octave <http://bevo.che.wisc.edu/octave>
-Tela <http://www.geo.imi.fi>
-Mupad <http://www.mupad.de>
-R or(GNU S) <http://cran.uk.r-project.org>
All of the above (well, don't know about tela *that* much) have
been succesfully installed in here. Most have some sort of open licence
(except for MuPAD). In fact, the top three are just Matlab clones in the
wider sense (Octave is a matlab clone, whereas Scilab is slightly more
advanced). Tela seems to be forgotten by everyone who cared about it,
and MuPAD is a free-ish alternative to Mathematica/Maple. Tela seemed to
be fast at using tensor (hence the name, TEnsor LAb), but I think Scilab
is good at handling tensors at this stage. Moreover, it has full time
staff developing it :)

Has anyone used R? So far, I haven't been in need of it, but it
would be interesting to know if anyone has had any experience with it.
Also, there's talk about Rlab <http://rlab.sourceforge.net/>. Any
comments about this one?

It would be a good idea for an add-on for the web page, to list
and comment experiences with these programs. Oh, well, just my
contribution :)

	Regards,
	José
