Net behavior (was: Re: GPL and BSD :) (was Re: Linux and Free BSDCDs))

This is true. However, it seems to me that there's an increasing number
of people who just don't seem to "get it." A lot of extremely stupid
people are getting their mits on a Net connection while not having the
slightest clue what to do with it. A lot of them are Americans, of
course, and it seems to me that most of them are Windows users as well
which, in its "nothing is free, helping people is to be paid for and
where do I send my registration card?" atmosphere is only helping things
along (heh.. "software licensing" should be about which people get to
use software IMHO :)

Take, for example, the QuakeLives fiasco. Mr Slade didn't/doesn't care
about anyone else, he just wants status for himself and his name. He
doesn't care about giving back to other people and doesn't seem to care
about the people from whom he wants respect. (For those that don't know
about QL: http://www.zip.com.au/~kev/qlfiles/)

It's all going down hill IMO but, for the moment, there are a lot of
cool people out there. I just hope they aren't dwarfed by a populace of
uncool people.
