I've seen the other replies you've mad eto people's questions, so I'll take
them on board.

Out of 750Mb you've got:

650Mb of software
Say about 5 megs for /boot
About 32Mb for swap (that's what usually gets put in, in my experience)
5% of the drive space reserved for root

That brings it out to about 30Mb free.  If there's a few config files or
whatever that got created, some log files, that can be several more Mb, and
then you've got the whole "what is a MegaByte - 1000Kb or 1024Kb -
1,000,000bytes, or 1,048,756 bytes?"

Generally your drive size is listed in 10^6 sized megabytes, while the CD
was propably thinking terms of 2^20 MegaBytes...
