Alan,

There is a driver available at the promise website;
ftp://ftp.promise.com/Controllers/IDE/Ultra66/RedHat/Driver/Beta/U66d100.zip

this driver supports Linux Redhat. Please be aware that these are beta drivers.

Should you require any further information on development, I recommend that you contact
support [at] promise.com

Martin,

This comes from a Linux user group I am part of, do you know of any development of Linux drivers for the 66 card.

Subject: UDMA/66 Controllers..

Hi everyone,

I'm in the middle of purchasing a Promise Ultra/66 controller, 'cos I've
decided I'm not having my UDMA drive sit in my computer and be, ..er..,
not-UDMA, like. :)

I've heard from loads of people who've had problems with this controller,
getting it to work with Linux, etc., anyone on this list got it working?
If anyone's interested I'll post the results I have when I , um,
'persuade' it into going ;)

Cheers,

Alex.

P.S. I shall also be performing the 1p RAID Controller Upgrade
'modification' on this device (soldering iron to the ready :) If you're
interested, I'll post those results too. So, either I will have one cheap
raid device or one expensive bit of plastic :)) Chances of me torching it,
anyone?!! (Betting info: mod. requires moving surface-mount resistor, with
my 4mm soldering iron & bare fingers [no tweezers, you see]. Heh, easy
peasy.)
