Star Office

Hello

This should make Alex laugh a bit ? I had a bit of a giggle myself
:-)

Letter arrived this morning from Sun Microsystems.

Sun Microsystems Limited

" Thank you for your request for the Sun StarOffice CD.

Sun Microsystems acquired StarDivision during the summer of 1999, and
is making Sun StarOffice 5.1 available on the web for free download.

We have a limited number of free CD-ROMs, and are pleased to be able
to supply you with one.

Sun will be developing StarOffice, from its present form to a new
web-based version called StarPortal and expect it to be available
during 2000.

Sun will be also making the StarOffice source available on-line via a
community source licence, and will be publishing the programming
interfaces to allow other tools and accessories for StarOffice to be
developed.

Sun Microsystems is changing the rules of computing again [perhaps an
examination by a doctor of medicine is in order ? ] - come and forge
the new tomorrow with us !

We hope that you enjoy using StarOffice, and will be able to take
advantage of StarPortal in the future.

For product support available on-line, please visit the
http://www.sun.com/staroffice web site. "

It's not signed

What this means is that I'm going to be paying £200 per month for
phone bills if I continue to use Sun software. I've tried to use
online apps and none of them worked because the internet was too
slow. So, I think we can forget it ?

This leaves Koffice Gnome office and Corel Office 2000. None of them
are as good as Star Office.

BTW, I've got nine SO CDs so if you want to get it before it vanishes
altogether then you'd better get it from me ?

Thanks
