Reposting - Zip drive I/O errors.
I`m reposting this to see if anyone can come back with some answers for
me...it`s beginning to do my nut.
If no one can help, do you know anyone (LUGs or otherwise) that can?
Cheers.

Hi again guys...
I`ve just been tidying up all the programs and .rpms I`ve downloaded
recently, and have tar.gz'd the lot.
ls -sh reports the file as 52Mb - so figured I throw it onto a ext2
formatted zip. I`m using the parport zipdrive with the imm kernel module
(built-in).
After 20Mb (tried dumping a load of mp3s - managed 7Mb) or so the I get
this in /var/log/messages:
Mar 21 12:23:44 shaitan kernel: scsidisk I/O error: dev 08:01, sector
36824
Mar 21 12:23:44 shaitan kernel: SCSI disk error : host 0 channel 0 id 6
lun 0 return code = 27010000
Mar 21 12:23:44 shaitan kernel: scsidisk I/O error: dev 08:01, sector
36826
Mar 21 12:23:44 shaitan kernel: SCSI disk error : host 0 channel 0 id 6
lun 0 return code = 27010000
Mar 21 12:23:44 shaitan kernel: scsidisk I/O error: dev 08:01, sector
36828
Mar 21 12:23:44 shaitan kernel: SCSI disk error : host 0 channel 0 id 6
lun 0 return code = 27010000
Mar 21 12:23:44 shaitan kernel: scsidisk I/O error: dev 08:01, sector
36830
and so on.
There is also the occasional:
Mar 21 12:45:47 shaitan kernel: EXT2-fs error (device sd(8,1)):
ext2_write_inode: unable to read inode block - inode=14, block=6
The drive continues to access, ignoring attempts to umount or eject,
even although cp has reported a `no space on device` and quits.
The drive and drives aren`t all that old.
I`ve attempted to start a fresh with one disk...repartitioning
(/dev/sda1) and reformatting.
No joy.
Here`s the line out of /etc/fstab:
/dev/sda1 /mnt/zip ext2 noauto,rw,user,sync
0 0
Anyone know what`s going on?
Baz.
