SuSE and modules

Hi, I'm probably being overcome by my own ineptness here but I wonder if 
anyone can help out with this.

I want to try to use a SCSI card on my SuSE system. SuSE very kindly 
provide a floppy with various modules on it. I see there is a file called 
scsi-mod.gz but I'm having trouble unzipping it. If I do gzip -d 
scsi-mod.gz it just seems to change the file name to scsi-mod without the 
.gz extension. Running gzip on this file then complains that it isn't in 
zip format.

What am I doing wrong?
