I'm still not making sounds with my Mandrake system which has a similar
sound card that doesn't seem to have been autodetected - mainly, though,
because I haven't got any speakers connected! Anyway, when I tried to run
the CD player it gave an error message about not finding a 'mixer module'.
So, I tried running Lothar which is installed automatically by Mandrake -
this gave me an IRQ etc for the card. I haven't done any more yet but I
wonder whether sound is compiled into the kernel by default or not. I should
try Lothar (just type this in a terminal window) and let me know how you go
on as, when I find a spare pair of speakers, I will have the same to do.
