Simple response: Data Protection Act. Threaten them with court; they're not
allowed to do what they lke with your data..... usually, just asking for
copies of everything they've got stored elicits a 'umm, we removed you, so
we don't have any of your data', I guess they find it easier. Works for me,
anyhow.

I get the feeling this is going to be a real sales thing, rather than just a
big Linux conference... a bit sad in a way, but then the Win users get
treated equally badly, so nothing new there I guess.
