Re: [Sheflug] Printer drivers
You're welcome.
The SO drivers isn't so much of a fudge as a misunderstanding. The gs
drivers allow you to print anything, from anything (within reason), but
the nice people at Sun (sorry, Star Division), thought that using their
own printer drivers would produce better results.
This only works on postscript printers, tho'. Anyone with a raster printer
(no dreads) which doesn't support postscript commands( and indeed many
laser printers), need a second layer. This is where the drivers set up in
YaST come in.
The generic option in SO just dumps postscript output to the printer
queue. The driver selected then takes it and converts it into something
the printer understands. This is not necessary for postscript printers, as
they understand it already.
Just thought this might help clear it up, but it probably doesn't ;-)
