Right there *is* an option its on the SuSE 6.4 set - Abiword. Office 97 
compatible, XML compatible :-). Oh and the total installation size once 
uncompressed is 12Mb. It is my personal favorite. It also has the benefit 
of *looking* like office 97 and acting ing the same way. VERY good for 
newbies.
