I hope this means that the tarball you've downloaded made and installed
has put a file like libjpeg.so.62.0.0 into /usr/lib. You probably just
needed a symlink in /usr/lib libjpeg.so.62 pointing to it. same applies
if it's in /usr/local/lib  I think you need to run ldconfig at this
point then I hope that Robert is you fathers brother and all and it
should work. If not tells us if there is anything new in usr/lib or
usr/local/lib? and what it looks like. Al what do you think? 

I find RPMs are much easier for Libraries
