[Sheflug] kdat
I've been playing with kdat, a slight embelishment on my current
hand-rolled tar backup scripts.
Has anyone here used kdat in a system-with-trousers-round-ankles scenario
and had to restore to restore by manually invoking tar?
I like the idea of having various backup profiles to hand but not the idea
of needing kdat back working before I can recover the system. AFAIK the
archive is a plain ol' tar, it's just the kdat "format" of the tape which
gets me slightly suspicious.
ttfn,
Paul.
