RE: [Sheflug] Printer sharing, NFS and ADSL IP addresses.
ADSL will be dynamic, precisely because they want to stop people hosting
servers on the system when they could be paying BT shedloads 'o' dosh for
exactly the same service hosted by them, so they get the revenue for the
whole shebang. In fact, the address will be changed quite frequently
(according to BT) so you will have to re-register with whatever
DNS server hosts your domain details every time it changes.
It is possible to bypass their lockdown by reprogramming routers - the
public-spirited individual who posted the howto on the web was very
quickly dealt with by BT.
