[Sheflug] mandrake 7.1 weirdness

Why oh why (sorry Points of View!) do Mandrake installs always seem to foul
up at the last moment?

Yet again a fresh install fails at the last hurdle (X config). A reboot
actually started the system, so far so good, but running xf86config
reveals errors in the card database with Trident cards. I can't believe
this is an actual database screw-up, otherwise it'd be spotted at build
time. I have had other random installation failures with the 'Drake, so
I'll chalk this one down to experience.

However, stranger is the failure of Supermount, reporting non-support in
the kernel.

Time to dig round the CDs to find the xf86 rpms, then a full reinstall I
suppose if no joy.

Has anyone else tried 7.1 yet and experienced installation problems ?
