There are patches for DVD on linux at http://www.kernel.dk/ . This means
basically manually patching the kernel and doing a rebuild (and a config if
you haven't done one already). I don't know what kernel you're running, but
DVD's get treated the same as CD's ... DVD's have extra driver commands
though that the patch here gives linux.
If not checked out, it may be worth doing.
