Re: [Sheflug] PPP taking two calls to get going.

 Well, I`ve upgraded my ppp from 2.3.10 (which, after a bit of hunting around I
appear to have installed from a RedHat sourced rpm) to the latest 2.4.0 - from a
tar this time.

 Here`s a straight cut/paste from /var/log/messages:

Aug 15 23:23:51 localhost ifup-ppp: pppd started for ppp0 on /dev/modem at
115200
Aug 15 23:23:51 localhost kernel: registered device ppp0
Aug 15 23:23:51 localhost pppd[997]: pppd 2.4.0 started by root, uid 0
Aug 15 23:24:22 localhost pppd[997]: Serial connection established.
Aug 15 23:24:22 localhost pppd[997]: Using interface ppp0
Aug 15 23:24:22 localhost pppd[997]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/modem
Aug 15 23:24:27 localhost kernel: PPP BSD Compression module registered
Aug 15 23:24:27 localhost kernel: PPP Deflate Compression module registered
Aug 15 23:24:27 localhost pppd[997]: local IP address .....blah...

 It comes up 1st time, everytime.

 Dunno why I didn`t think of doing that in the first place.

 Still...I`ve got over bother. Setting up RAID arrays might have been the
stupidest thing I`ve ever done.

 Baz.
