[Sheflug] Network Doesn't Work

That's your local network.  Since the mask has 0 bits in it, it will
match more than one address (if ADDRESS & GENMASK == 192.168.1.0, the
kernel sends stuff addressed to ADDRESS out eth0 directly to ADDRESS;
otherwise it tries to find a gateway).  I don't see anything wrong
with this; apparently your machines are not physically connected to
each other.

Plug them both in. :-)

I seem to recall that you have a switching hub (maybe an ISDN
router?).  I thought this should be automatic once you make the
physical connection, but you may have to tell your hub/router that
your laptop is back from vacation.

If that fails, send the laptop to a few AA meetings, and it will shape
up.
