Ooops. Didn`t even think about that. I so used to seeing it be sorted
for me under Linux. The one time I need a Micro$oft product to be
automated in some way (sod the autocorrect, autospell,
auto-make-you-a-cup-of-blooming-tea-whilst-you-write-drivel modes I want
auto-binary/ascii!!!) - it isn't there. Typical.
It's enough to drive you to Linux.

Well, it's not quite that bad. I worked it out - a mere 3.82Gb of
useless 0's and 1's (plus a Gb or so for Windoze itself, of course :-).
A good chunk of that was mp3s. Another chunk was my photos -
fortunately I've still got the 80 odd original scans on PhotoCD.
My most precious data is a couple of Tcl files which are on a server in
Boston - I've only lost my local backups. Phew.
So after I'm done with Oracle (9 1/2 hrs - we`re at 119 Meg with 140
Meg to go...)

Yup. I'll be building in SMB support into my new kernel, on my new,
very bare machine. *Sob* *Blubber* *Whimper*
The Oh-my-GOD-everything-is-in-this-thing kernel that RedHat install as
part of the standard distro allowed me to mount a SMB share - it's just
like using NFS, including all the security risks, no doubt.
Works OK tho.
Quite right, ftp, and a liberal helping of operator error. A big slice
in fact. Cake anyone?

I would happily sell my soul to to *NIX devil. It's the Windoze one I'd
like to beat until it stops moving :-)
Baz.
