[Sheflug] Setting $PATH

Noodles isn't quite perfect (although I have fixed the lo interface
problem):

How do I set the PATH variable to search all the useful directories
like /usr/local/bin and /usr/local/sbin?
 Currently $PATH as root gives:

bash: /usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/bin:/root/bin: No such file or directory

 Cheers

 Baz.
