[Sheflug] Ancient PC

OK I have a problem. A friend recently aquired an old PC - no badges, no
brandname but very intergrated inside with unusal size mobo - may be NCR
manufactured - it is an EISA(?) 486DX33, 8 meg RAM in 2x4 meg 72 pin simms
and onboard SCSI (NCR 700 controller chip on mobo) and 500meg SCSI (2?)
disk, plus network & gfx hardware on the motherboard. It came with a corrupt
windows 3.11 (euch!) installed but installing windows 95 it dies on first
boot irrespective of if it set up as an NCR PC, windows 98 & NT won't
install due to insufficient RAM and the linux won't detect the onboard SCSI
(arse 'cos there's no IDE) even when the appropriate module is loaded. No
problems installing DOS 6.22 but I want it to run linux dammit! Can anybody
point me in the right direction, even if that is a demand for more detailed
information?

thanks

A. Basterfield
