[Sheflug] lexmark optraE312 printer software

Another quickie: has anyone got lexmark's printer software to run?  I
downloaded 2 rpms from lexmark's web site and installed them but I ended
up with garbage, thinly spread over many pages, when I tried to print
using them.  If I use printtool, postscript test page prints fine, but
I get staircase output from plain text (and selecting the "repair staircase
printing" option had no effect at all).  There may be some incompatibility
between the standard queues as set up by printtool and the queuing mechanism
set up by the lexmark software.

[I don't understand why the staircase printing wasn't repaired: perhaps
the lexmark expects a different control code for CR than standard??-because
I assume that what the filter does is substitute CRLF for LF]
