RE: [Sheflug] Re: sound cards for Red Hat Linux 6.2?
I've installed soundblasters on RH 5.2 and RH 6.0 with no problems at all.
'course you need to know all the IRQ and DMA numbers, but that shouldn't be
too much of a prob.

As a general rule I've found that Red Hat doesn't like sound cards. I
have come across people who have been able to get RH to produce sound
but they have been few and far between.
I'd suggest the following. Get a cheap sound card from Maplin
Electronics. Don't spend money on hardware it's a waste of time.
Other thing is download and try to install either Alsa or OSS. If you
can get these to work with RH then that's much better than the RH
sound config tool.
I've now tried RH with four different cards and RH 5.1 to 6.2 still
wouldn't produce a single sound at all.
Thanks
