Personally, I didn't find it a hard install at all, even though I was
installing it on a system I didn't know anything about, and it's from a
crap vendor (HP)... then again, I'm used to editing BSD disklabels with
ed: vi is for girls ;-)

Personally, I find it the closest to my favourite vendor Unix (Digital,
before Compaq bollixed it up) - they've managed to mix some BSD-isms and
some SysV-isms into a coherent system that lets me get at the guts of it
whenever (and however) I want; unlike RedHat, they don't mess with the
default, well-known behaviour of software packages in stupid ways (look
what they do to smrsh, for $DEITY's sake...)

The only problem I had was odd hardware - whenever the video card in this
PoS goes into 1024x768, the monitor goes into powersave mode and I can't
get a display back any way other than a warm reset. Gotta love HP
hardware.

Still, that's just my taste... :-)

Cheers

R
